Homeward Bound
Well, I’m home. But! I will continue to update and post pictures from the last couple days of the trip. I will probably continue to write about the trip and reflect here until I don’t need to anymore, so keep looking out for new postings!

So, I’m sitting here in a luscious, red couch in Amarillo, TX just thinking about how good life is. And how it is wrong to end sentences with prepositional phrases.
Let’s start with yesterdays events. Rachel and I left Farmington, NM and traveled to Santa Fe, NM. It was a very short drive for us and we were relieved. I’m not sick of driving yet, I feel like it has just begun in...
wish i could've packed you in my suitcase
Quick update: Rachel and I are alive.
Not so quick update: I have been losing all my fire and burning passion to blog. I admitt to slacking, my apologies! I think I left off in San Fra and on the way to LA. LA was pretty interesting. If I can be honest, and I will be, we kind of had a flop of a host. He was a super nice guy and everything, but he was also competing with all of the other fabulous...
a man named scott
The strangest thing happened to me on my last day in Portland. I was in a random thrift store, headed to the back for music and movies when I ran into a man named Scott. He saw I was coming and jumped out of my way. I told him we could both look at the same time and it wouldnt be a problem. He then extended his hand for a friendly handshake. He said “My name is Scott.” Naturally, I put...

Well, today got better. Much better. After we had our own personal meltdowns, Rachel and I carried onward and went to a really cool theater here in Portland. The movies they play are new releases but they only charge you $3 and…AND they serve pizza and all sorts of food that you can actually take into the theater and eat in your seats with tables surrounding the entire place. The idea behind...

Let’s see..yesterday was a good day. Today, not so much. Ha! I’m laughing, but it’s true. Yesterday Rachel and I visited a Rose Garden here in Portland and it was pretty great. Dawn, I thought of you the whole time! We always think of where we would hang out in the city we are visiting. We both agreed we would come to the Rose Garden to read or eat lunch. Afterwards we walked...

Today Rachel, Kyle, Jeff, and I all arrived in Portland. The drive from Seattle was only 3 hours and it was just the break in driving that we needed. When we got here Rachel and I split up to meet our host, Sam. Sam, like all of our other hosts, is awesome. Totally nice, flexible, and free. He and his friends own a t-shirt company and every saturday and sunday they go to the market here and sell...
Wade-in on the World to Change
Well..Rachel and I are currently in Rapid City, SD. We got here around..well, im not even sure. The times change and i cant keep up with that. Anyways, we got here and it was raining pretty heavily. We arrived at our hosts house. His name is Arik and he is super nice. He has a woman from Austrailia named Gae that has also been staying with him for 10 weeks now. When we arrived she was mixing up...
can i write this?
I dont know where to start. I am kind of terrible at taking pictures and remembering everything that goes on in a day. Our first night in Chicago consisted of dropping hundo’s all over the public transportation system, blistery feet, and a run in with angry Artist Cafe workers. Okay, that’s an exaggeration. We walked around downtown quite a bit and saw some stuff. Yeah, stuff. The...

Today was rather eventful. Rachel and I decided to leave Mason around 11 am. We didnt make it to Chicago until 8 pm. If you do the math, you realize that these numbers dont add up. And if you do the equation backwards to check yourself, you realize again these numbers dont add up. You’re right. We got stuck in a crazy storm that felt like El Nino all over again. We spent an hour and...
turkey spaghetti
Where do I begin? I woke up relatively early this morning after a wild night of croquet, ice cream, and lord of the rings monopoly. Rachel just informed me that monopoly was the first password she ever used on a computer. She felt proud to spell such a long word. But anyway, I woke up early and started getting the last of my things together. I was pretty grumpy and I do apologize to my parents for...

thank you
Dawn, you’re amazing! I am so thankful for our uncanny friendship, as some may label it. Thank you for showing me kindness, thoughtfulness, and support all throughout our classes together and even on this new journey. I will think of you as I eat every peanut butter pretzel and scooby snack! :]
oh!
and this just in..our two friends, kyle and jeff, that are working at Yellowstone are quitting their jobs and once we get there they are going to leave and travel with us. they have their own car and will stay in their own places, but they will mostly be with us while we explore each city. bonus!
one week
Well, we are down to just one week before our journey begins. Seven days. It’s wild to think that this idea we had in early February was tossed around for months, plans were made, and now it’s finally going to be put in motion. At this point, it feels like it’s not about to happen, though I know it is. It is just so big and strange.
Rachel and I have hosts for each place we are...
